AWES COVID-19 FOOD HAMPER DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM
August 15, 2020 at African Superstore King George Boulevard Surrey BC. Organizations in BC and other parts of Canada have been carrying on charitable activities to provide support to citizens due to the effect of covid-19 on people`s health, emotional and economic life. AWES has been part of this charitable activity as we were able to acquire a grant from Canadian Red cross society to support our community to meet the challenges from the Covid-19 pandemic. This grant gave us the opportunity to procure and share a take-home food hamper containing culturally appropriate foods, such as cornmeal, vegetables, plantain, chicken and other food items among our vulnerable members and members of our community. We are grateful to the Red cross community emergency fund for this wonderful gesture through us to members of our community.
Our mission is to create awareness through arts and culture, literacy, conferences, workshops, skill development, entrepreneurship and financial independence. This will enable African women and girls to utilize their skills and talents to improve themselves and their communities. They will use the opportunities available to have a successful and fulfilling life
Mini Conference of Women and Girls on the follow up of issues raised by the women Deliver conference in Vancouver.
